These cats look like a mixture of lynxes and cats with their enormous paws, ear tufts, and big personalities. They are the largest domestic cat breed in the world, and they are also nicknamed “gentle giants” by a lot of cat lovers. Despite their incredible size, these cats are actually very calm and kind, and they have a couple of ‘dog-like’ qualities, so to speak.
They are also very affectionate and fun-loving. The photos of Maine Coons in this gallery were taken by a photographer named Robert Sijka who has some experience when it comes to cat photography, and we can say his works with these majestic creatures are absolutely breathtaking.
This interest in Maine Coons began when his wife Izabella began a breeding program 8 years ago in China where they live, and this turned into the initial Maine Coon cattery in China. As the cats started to give birth to kittens, his adventure also began.
He chose to take photos that have something special and rare about them, and he managed to establish his own style after taking many photographs. He claims that the key to taking good photographs is patience since it’s always possible to face many obstacles during photographing animals. It can even take him two to three hours to get a single shot sometimes! He also says that the best approach towards animals is just to play and be friends with them!
Robert says that he wants to capture various expressions on a cat’s face, so he just chooses a very simple background and chooses to focus on the cat rather than anything else. You can find more of his works in the gallery below!
